DJ Arafat Exhumed And Desecrated By Fans.
Barely hours after the burial of Ivorian coupe decale icon, fans have stormed the cemetery, dug his grave and removed his corpse to confirm the body is truly that of DJ Arafat.
This group of fans consisting of young Ivorians and Chinese call themselves “Les Chinoise.” According to them they wanted to confirm that it was indeed DJ Arafat who was in the coffin. Some of them thought his death was probably faked.
Among the images circulating on social networks, one can see a coffin destroyed inside the tomb, his death suit (a blue-night suit over a white shirt) opened and tie pulled out.
Socks removed from the feet, wreaths of flowers decorating the tomb sacked.
The fans equally took images and videos of the evil act and shared on the social media.
For the moment, we do not know where the body of the artist is. Some say he was re-buried, others say he was taken back to the morgue.
Whether this act was done with a reason or not, several persons in the continent have severely condemned the act which they describe as “disrespectful to Arafat’s memory.”
Last night, thousands of fans paid tribute to him during an artistic vigil at the Félix Houphouët Boigny stadium in Abidjan, the Ivorian capital.
The Ivorian Minister of Culture, Maurice Bandaman, posthumously decorated DJ Arafat with the national order of cultural merit “for his immense contribution to the artistic influence” of Côte d’Ivoire.
Several political and sports personalities were present. Showbiz stars across Africa including Nigerian Davido, Congolese Fally Ipupa and Koffi Olomide and Cameroonian rapper Tenor were also present to pay last respects to their fallen colleague.
The artist whose real name was Ange Didier Houon died in a motorcycle accident on August 12th this year at 33.
