Cameroonians have been clamoring for it and here it is at last. Big Brother Cameroon or better still, BIGGY 237 is expected to take Cameroon by storm in January 2020.
The Big brother reality TV show is something that Cameroonians have always wished they could participate in or organize theirs, especially after watching Big Brother Africa and Big Brother Naija.
Well, a group of Cameroonians is organizing the First ever season of Big Brother Cameroon in a couple of months. The show was organized before but was limited only to Ndop and very few persons knew about it. This season, the show promises to be bigger, better and bolder as it has been getting a lot of social media awareness and all Cameroonians above 21 can participate.
Now, What Is Big Brother Cameroon All about?
According to the Director of Big Brother Cameroon, Fred Keyanti, the reality TV show is an initiative from a group called, “We love Ndop.” They are mostly people coming from the town of Ndop in the North West region of Cameroon and they are the major sponsors of the show.
The show is new in Cameroon and people have been asking to know how it is different from Big Brother Africa and Big Brother Naija. According to the Director, unlike in BBA and BBN where housemates go through auditions, with Big Brother Cameroon, there are no auditions at all. There is an application process that started on the 23rd of August 2019 and will run till mid-October.
Every Cameroonian above the age of 21 is free to send in their application. Applicants will be selected by December and the show will be launched in January 2020 in a location in Douala.
Big Brother Cameroon is divided into two phases.
During phase one, biggy will assign weekly tasks to the 61 contestants. Contestants will have to complete the tasks in their various locations/cities and submit them on a date determined by Biggy. Each task shall be submitted in a 30 seconds video. Any video longer than 30 seconds shall be disqualified. Points shall be accumulated. After 4 weeks contestants who fail to reach a set weekly average (points) shall be eliminated. Once only 25 contestants are left in the competition, the show shall move to phase 2.
During this phase surviving contestants from phase one shall be moved into Biggy’s house. Biggy’s House is Sacred and therefore contestants will be informed of the location a few days before the start of the show. There shall be weekly live shows and evictions. At the end, the contestant with the highest public vote wins the maiden edition.
Like every other Big Brother reality TV show, there is a grand Prize to won by the last man or woman standing. The Biggy Millionaire winning price will comprise cash, goods, paid vacation abroad and a production/talent sponsorship contract.
